Owner Vanessa spent this past weekend in Christchurch completing specialist training for a brand-new treatment coming to Sanctuary Day Spa and Medi Lounge: electrolysis. It’s a treatment she’s especially excited about, because it opens up another option for two of the most stubborn concerns clients bring to her.
What Electrolysis Will Treat at Sanctuary
Electrolysis is being introduced at Sanctuary to help with concerns that other treatments can’t always reach, including red facial veins and capillaries, and stubborn facial hair that laser can’t effectively target, such as blonde, red and grey hairs that don’t contain enough pigment for traditional laser hair removal.
For years, clients have asked Vanessa what their options are when laser hair removal won’t work on their hair colour. Very soon, electrolysis will be another answer.
Why Laser Doesn’t Work on Every Hair Colour
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment, or melanin, inside each hair follicle, which is why it’s so effective on dark, pigmented hair. It also means hair with little or no pigment, such as blonde, red, white and grey hair, can be resistant or completely unresponsive to laser treatment. Electrolysis works differently: it treats the hair follicle directly with a fine probe, regardless of the hair’s colour, which is why it can succeed where laser can’t.
